The beginning of my career in the end of 1990s involved hundreds of thousands of words of software localization from English to Finnish. I then carried out various translation assignments of technical and commercial contents in both of these languages and from Swedish to Finnish. As I had earlier work experience in advertising, printing and graphic design, I became involved in marketing, too.

During the 21st century, I’ve expanded my expertise into teaching English and coordinating language courses, providing web and e-learning content, technical writing and documentation, project management, search engine optimization (SEO), content marketing and management, blogging, text and concept analysis, language revision, corporate literature and fiction, including youth and romance novels, poetry, rhymes and lyrics, audio books, and Nordic Noir, with more than 50 titles at Fennica the Finnish National Bibliography, as well as writing and editing marketing and other communications for international companies. Creative fields, including architecture and design, as well as building and construction technology, economics, and geopolitics have become my fields of specialization.

I am interested in translating more poetry, in multilingualism, strategic communications, responsible and sustainable messaging in particular, readability, reader-response research, reception theories, cognitive processes, and forensic linguistics, and applying these to my work. I’m also keen to use my illustration skills to create more value for my clients. Cape Context Oy is a continuation of a family company I have worked through since 1998. I am one of the founding members and former chair of Nordic Editors and Translators ry (NEaT), a registered association for language professionals working with English in the Nordic countries and beyond. Contact me for more specific references on my experience and services.
